Archie Lee McPherson
Archie Lee McPherson was born on February 3, 1930, in Gould, Arkansas to Rev. John D. and Pearl (Roberts) McPherson. After having lived a full and vibrant life, he departed on December 31, 2020, at the age of 90. He was an Army Veteran, PFC in the 118th Army Band, and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1957. Archie’s true passion was Jazz, and he was an accomplished musician (arranging and composing). He played several instruments including the trombone, trumpet, drums, and his favorite, the piano. He once had the pleasure of opening for B.B. King. He retired from the Dayton West Side Cab company and pursued his love of music by playing with various bands, including the Eddie Brookshire Band, and shared his talents as a lifelong member of United A.M.E. Church. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at United A.M.E Church 286 East Church St, Xenia, Ohio. Friends will be received at 11 am until the time of service which will be at 12 noon with Reverend Dr. John E. Freeman officiating. Social distancing protocol will be observed, and a face mask will be required. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Freeman Funeral Home.
