Charles Peace William Davis departed this life for his eternal happiness on October 2, 2021, at Ohio State University Hospital. He was born August 6, 1944, in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Peace William Davis and Julia (Tolliver) Davis and was the third of five siblings. He was a graduate of Springfield South High in 1965 and later received an Associates of Arts at Laney University located in Oakland, California. Charles was an active member of the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1972, in which he was honorably discharged with the title of Sergeant. He was also a part of the Freemasons. In subsequent years, Charles became a talented baker, initially developing his craft at Safeway in California and later owning his own bakery in Sherman, Texas. In 1995, Charles retired from his career as a baker, in which he held his last bakery position at Big Bear Stores in Ohio. He continued to show his hand in business, managing his own kitchen through 2003. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Valencia; two sons, Charles Peace William Davis Jr. (Melanie Davis) and Rico Evans (Sierra Evans); two daughters, Shauntée Davis Carpenter and Cherelle Daniel (Julius Daniel); sister, Connie Mixon; grandchildren, Khari Davis, Christian Davis, Kellie Carpenter, Briyana Davis, Claiborne Johnson, Nevaeh Evans, Elijah Carpenter, Naomi Evans, K’cyn Catlin, and Addisyn Catlin; as well as great-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sisters; Mary Gossett, Elizabeth Smith, and brother Larry D. Davis. Charles will be remembered by all for his quick-witted humor, loving smile, and big heart. He loved his family with abandonment, as well as inspired and encouraged many people in his lifetime and will always be remembered.
