Gertrude Patton

On Saturday, May 20, 2023, surrounded by family, our beloved matriarch, Gertrude Egler Patton went home to be with the Lord. Gertrude, who was 96, was born the daughter of Walter Sr. and Grace (Dixson) Egler. She attended Open Bible Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a stay-at-home mother and babysat for her grandchildren and several nieces. She loved her stories, old shows on TV land as well as the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed her family and hosted holiday meals at her home. She was sweet, sassy, funny, and stubborn. Gertrude was loved by many and had so many call her mom or grandma- many of which were adopted into the family.

Gertrude leaves to cherish her memory her 4 Loving Sons Floyd Patton Jr., Howard (Betty) Patton, Robert Patton, and Herbert (Marla) Patton; 6 grandchildren Leroy Hill, Rose Patton, Michael Hill, Frances Grigsby, Brandy Wright and April Crowley; 7 great-grandchildren Yolanda Hill, Angela Patton, Shay (Chase) Coomer, and Kaya Grigsby, Emanee Wright, Alex Crowley and Destinee Henderson; a great-great grandson Greyson Hill and 2 great-great granddaughters Eden and Corie. Nieces: Dorris Daniel, Grace Daniel, and Phyliss Mitchell; great nieces: Tammy Daniel and Stacy (Geneo) Whitaker; great-great nieces Nia Daniel and Gianna Whitaker, and great-great nephews Jaxon Whitaker and Geneo Whitaker Jr. Special Family Friend and Daughter Evelyn Baisden and a host of other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Floyd Patton Sr., her eldest child and only daughter Frances Corbett, son-in-law Dale Corbett, Mother Grace Egler, Father Walter Elger Sr, Sister Elizabeth ‘Libby” Hardnick, and Brother Walter “Virgil” Elger Jr.

Her Legacy lives on in the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
