James Lawrence Williams, 72, went home to be with the Lord on December 23rd, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio. James was born on January 8th, 1948 in Augusta, Georgia. He was the third oldest of 5 children born to Amy Goldwire and Henry Williams. He served in the United States Army until he was Honorably Discharged. He was a Green Beret and Parachuter, for the service he was honored with a Purple Heart medal and many other awards. James had a zeal for life; he loved to cook, tell stories to his grandchildren, spend time with his family, and to ride his bicycles both in-town and long-distance. Always open to learning something new James had a warm and fun-loving personality. He leaves to cherish his memory one brother Riley Williams; three surviving children; Damon Gilliam, James Gilliam, and Julia Gilliam, sixteen grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
