Joan Thomas Fite Moore was born on March 30, 1943, in Xenia, Ohio to John and Bertha Thomas — one half of the twin dynamic duo that was Joanie and Johnny.
Joanie worked at Elano Corporation for over 20 years, where she helped manufacture parts for airplanes. She committed her life to the Lord, receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1982. Along with her passion for Jesus, Joanie loved her family and friends and had a true zest for life. Her favorite things were shopping, reading romance novels, Christmas, and the snow. She also loved to sing, had a beautiful voice, and was a member of several groups and choirs.
Joanie had a huge heart and loved children so much that she became a surrogate mother to many of her children’s friends, often taking them into her home when they needed a safe space. Some of her bonus children included Dawn Wimberly, Charla Mosley, Adrien Garland, and Erika Smith, just to name a few.
Joanie went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 12:12 in the afternoon, surrounded by her five children as she took her last breath. She is survived by Lisa (Kevin) Jackson, Lori (Curtis) Easley, Lukie (Kathy) McCormick, Lynnene (Jeff) Smith, Joie (Gary) Collins, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, 1 godson, a host of nieces and nephews, and 4 special friends — Sharon, Lesley, Toni, and William. She will be missed dearly by all.
Service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Xenia Nazarene Church 1204 W 2nd Street, Xenia, Ohio.
