John Shoates

John Shoates, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Ohio’s Hospice in Dayton.  John was a member of Zion Baptist Church.  He served in the United States Army for 2 years during the Korean Conflict.  He was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.  John retired from WPAFB after working 38 years as an engineer in Flight Systems Engineering Division.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean, and daughters Joyette Bowen and Jacqueline Robinson.  Home Going Service for John Shoates will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, Visitation at 12 noon until time of service which will be at 1:00 pm at Zion Baptist Church 656 E. Main Street, Xenia, Ohio. With Pastor Gary Chapman Officiating. Interment will follow at Cherry Grove Cemetery. Social distancing protocol will be observed, and face mask will be required. Jean, Joyette and Jacqueline will be participating in the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, October 9, 2021, in John’s Memory.  We would appreciate contributions in his memory to help end this devastating disease.  Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Freeman Funeral Home.
