John Willie Williams, Jr., of Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus, OH on February 23, 2022. John was born in Salisbury, NC on September 29, 1940. He was affectionately known as “June” by family and close friends. He spent much of his childhood in Salisbury, NC, and Midville, GA. He then moved to Springfield, OH where he spent the majority of his young adult life. John later lived in Wilmington, OH where he raised his family. John served in the Navy from 1960 – to 1964 and was stationed on the USS Independence in Norfolk, VA. He retired from Montgomery County Human Resources in 1997 where he served as a manager for many years. He enjoyed over 20 years of retirement and spent much of his time enjoying the park, taking morning trips to get coffee and donuts, and detailing his cars. John took pride in his cars and kept some mean whitewall tires on many of them. John was also a sharp dresser, and you could always identify him by his signature hat. John is preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Williams (Young); Father, John Williams; Sons, Martin Malcolm Williams, and John Williams II. He is survived by sisters, Barbara Williams of Illinois, Willa Mae Kelley of Brooklyn, NY, and Rosemary Williams of Springfield, OH. Son, Reggie Williams of Wilmington, OH. Daughters, Rachel Williams of Columbus, OH, Dawn Lewis of Englewood, OH, and Debbie Whitaker of Springfield, OH. Grandchildren, Jaiden (Branson) Newbry, Shaiese Williams, Jordyn Lewis, and Jason Lewis. Great-grandchildren, Braiya, and Brynna Newbry. Nieces, Paula Cline and Jessica Tilley. Nephews, Jerry Williams, Larry Williams, and Joshua Williams along with a host of cousins and family.
