Kenneth Howard Peterson “Petey/PeteyBoy” 84, passed away at the Family Home surrounded by his family, Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Petey was born April 20, 1938, in Columbus, OH the eldest of 7 children to the late Kenneth B. and Clyle Peterson. After serving in the United States Air Force, Petey traveled the United States as an “Over the Road Truck Driver,” with Roadway Trucking Company for over 45 years. After his retirement he couldn’t stay away. He became a trainer at Swift Trucking Company, training the next generation of truckers. Not only was driving a truck his job, but his passion! Petey was known as a walking, talking Road Atlas. No matter where you were headed, he could tell you what highways and what mile markers to look for off the top of his head. Petey loved camping and he loved some John Wayne! Petey was our own Black Cowboy down to his Boots. While Petey resided in Phoenix, AZ for over 20 years he would always make time to come home for Family Reunions.
Petey is survived by 5 sons, Kenny (Pam) Peterson of Springfield, Anthony “Tony” (Jeannine) Peterson, Julius (Lisa) Peterson, Marshall (Caprina) Peterson and Jeff Peterson all of Columbus, OH. 5 daughters, Denise Peterson, and Paula Peterson-Smith, both of Columbus, OH. Julia Peterson-Harris, Marcia Peterson, and Angela Mapp all of Springfield. 2 Brothers, Delbert (Gladys) Peterson of Dayton, OH and Michael Peterson of Springfield. 2 Sisters, Dianne Peterson-Brown, and Sharon Peterson-Williams both of Springfield. 39 Grandchildren; 79 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; 1 Aunt; Una Peterson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Petey was preceded in death by his parents, Brother; David Peterson, Sister; Margaret Ann Peterson-Perrin, Daughter; Michelle Sims, 2 Sons; Kevin and Paul Peterson. 2 Special Cousins; Jimmy Peterson and Ernest “Bubby” Mackey, 2 Son-In-Laws; Ron Smith and John Harris.
