Sgt Major Mildred C. Hooper, 79, after a long fight for many years, passed away peacefully at St. Anne’s Hospital on December 30, 2020. Mildred was a devoted veteran who served in Desert Storm and spent another 30 plus years in the Army. Mildred was born on June 11, 1941, in Franklin, Georgia. She graduated from South High School in Springfield, Ohio. She worked for the Department of Defense for 30 plus years, until her retirement in 2012. Mildred was a caring, devoted woman of God, Mother to all, and mentor to many. She is preceded in death by her mother Mozella Nash. To carry on her Legacy, she leaves behind her son Edward (Teresa) McConnell, granddaughters Keyona (Gemar) Johnson, Shanetta (Tabitha Lavette). Great granddaughters Kaidence Roberts, Kandace McConnell, Karson Johnson, Briana (Benjamin Craig), Alexus Lavette, Cierra Lavette, Dynasty Lavette, Elise Lavette. Along with special cousins Darlene (Philip) Grey and Laurie Johnson. Mildred was blessed to have five Great Great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and acquaintance, that loved her dearly. Service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, at St. James Christian Center 2713 Northland Plaza Dr. Columbus, Ohio. Visitation will be 10:00 am until time of service which will be at 11:00 am with Pastor James N. Delaney Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Springfield, Ohio. Social distancing protocol will be observed, and a face mask will be required. Arrangements entrusted to Porter-Qualls-Freeman Funeral Home.
